First and foremost, megagrand props to zamoose and his wife with the birth of William James. The pictures are wonderful and he looks adorable. The videos are a beautiful touch! Congratulations!!
Now for the minimini review of the Weezer/Foo show:
Sara and I left right after work to get to Continental. We got there around 7:15 and by the time we found our seats, it was 7:30. We found our seats and instantaneously the lights went out and Weezer came on. I was surprised because the place was only half full. Guess I’m not catching a buzz before this show. Anyway, Weezer rocked! Amazing set, good mix of songs from all their albums. During what I thought was the first encore break, the band left the stage and then like 5 minutes later Rivers popped up behind the Front Of House setup and played a solo acoustical version of Island in the Sun(kickass). The Foo show was very good too. I guess the new thing is too play in different areas of the venue as Dave Grohl also walked around while playing his guitar during the 15 minute version of Stacked Actors eventually trading solos with Chris Shifflet(sp?) while standing up in the first section of the opposite end of the arena. Dave is always good for many laughs during the show and his voice is amazing! So everything was good and probably the best co-headlining show I’ve been to (bumping Green Day/Blink 182 to the #2 spot). My only complaint was the ridiculous guy behind me. First off, we are sitting in the nosebleed section where the seats a pretty much vertical. If you tripped, you wall fall about 40 feet and die. Needless to say, even if you were sitting down, you could still easily see over the people standing in front of you. Well, the section we were sitting in was absolutely dead. There were probably 10-12 people in our whole section standing and getting into the music. Now I am not one of those people who dances and gets all crazy at shows but I do the head nod and I certainly don’t mind what other people do. Well – to get to the point – this guy comes up to me from two rows behind us during the Weezer set and asks us to sit down because he can’t see. I responded by asking him if he was a Weezer fan which he replied that he was so I told him then he should get off his ass, which he didn’t like but left. I am so shocked that at a show as loud and energetic as a Weezer/Foo show, someone would actually ask anyone to SIT DOWN!!! Are you kidding?? Anyway, that was pretty ridiculous but overall the show was a blast!
