    Who’s ready for some Buffalo?

Well, some poor playing by the Rangers in the end of the 2nd and beginning of the third cost the Rangers their first game of the series and their first playoff loss of ‘07. Add to that that the 7th man really came through for the sabres. Of course, by that I mean all the calls went to the sabres. The ref’s were indisputably biased against them. Out of the 8 penalties the Ranger’s were called for, I think only ONE was legit. I loved watching the replays at the end of the game. They did a shortly bit on Sean Avery and I love the fact that all three clips they used showed Avery getting checked away from the play, meaing all three highlight clips they had on him should have been interference calls on the sabres. But he’s Sean Avery and the ref’s are biased. A couple other things I noticed during the game:
    1. The team is the buffalo sabres. The town in buffalo, the mascot is the sabres. Or so you would think. Their mascot is actually a buffalo. Whoops!
    2. I have never seen a game with such annoying fans (and how many times did the Rangers play Philly?). They were constantly banging on the glass, cheering like they just scored a goal whenever their team had the puck - wherever they were on the ice or what was going on, and booing whenever Jagr or Avery touched the puck. OK, I can understand why pittsburgh boo’d at Jagr, but Buffalo??
    3. VS. has the second worse coverage I have seen. Only NBC is worse. I hate commentators who talk all this bull about stuff not even going on in the game, missing key replays (was buffalo’s second goal a goal? looks like it hit the crossbar!), missing key game details (what, Rosival got hurt? when?), and super jumpy, out of focus, zoomed in camera shots. MSG has by far the best coverage and announcers. VS doesn’t even have trivia!

Well, better luck next year. The Rangers are out of it, losing to Buffalo 4-2 in the series. Game 5 was an absolute heartbreaker. Game 6 – they almost pulled it out. I think the Rangers couldn’t have one the first game the way it was called (very tight on the Rangers and very loose for Buffalo). I think the way they started the first period, they could have won but the ref’s came through for the home team. I really think the Rangers should have won the next four games in a row. The Rangers definitely played better than Buffalo in the whole series. If Buffalo is really a better team, they sure played like shit. How can I say that since Buffalo won? I think anyone who isn’t a buffalo fan or a Ranger hater and watched any of the games would agree. Any Ranger fan or unbiased watcher I think would agree. I think the keys were the refs calling the Rangers tighter than buffalo in the beginning of the series and keeping the Rangers off-balance the whole series, Miller is a pretty damn good goalie, and that Henrik had trouble with clutch goals in the third period. Don’t get me wrong; I think Henrik is a great goalie. I think he can play 59 minutes better than any goalie currently playing. Once he masters that last minute, he will be unstoppable. The thing is, when you give up a clutch goal in the last minute, the team can’t respond. I would rather him give up 2 goals in the first or second and let the team’s offense get to work than a heartbreaker in the third. He just couldn’t stop the puck when the team really really needed it. And Miller could. I think Buffalo’s offense and defense were pretty lousy, honestly. I thought Atlanta put up more fight. Congratulations Miller, because of you your team can get beaten by the only team I honestly thought the Rangers would have trouble defeating until the Stanley Cup – Ottawa.
