As you can tell, I have been spending most of my free time checking out photo blogs - Just check out my links for Photo Galleries. It has grown in size from about 5 to well, a lot!! I usually check each of these at least weekly for new shots. I find great inspiration from these sites: the framing, subject, focusing, etc. I think I have some good shots too, I just need to think of a better way to display them rather than on Google. I have to go through my 3000+ photos and maybe pick out 50 and make book and give it to people for the holidays.
In other news, Sara & I got a Wii a few weeks ago from Sara’s parents for our anniversary and it has been a blast. My parents gave us money for a game and we got Mario Party 8. It’s OK, Sara likes it much more than I do. Sara’s brother gave Sara & I a gift card to Best Buy (thanks!) and I think we will get another game, I’m thinking Zelda!
Last weekend Sara & I were up in Boston for Isaac & Lisa’s wedding. We had a great time in Boston and the wedding was a lot of fun too. I’ve taken a bit of a change in my life as I have really gotten into post-rock since Jeff, Steve & the boys formed Beware of Safety. I really dig it! I guess I’m kinda of jumping on the bandwagon here but I threw a whole bunch of post rock bands on Pandora, did a quick mix, and listened for hours without hearing a song I didn’t like. Anyway, sorry for the infrequency in posting. I will try to keep things more up to date but it’s always harder in the summer. If it’s nice - I want to be outside and if it’s not nice (thunderstorms) I probably shouldn’t be on my PC. I encourage you to check a photo blog on the right and browse through some photos. Also check out Beware Of Safety because they rock. Hard.

Please excuse the mess!

With the help of the host of all hosts, Zamoose, of Literal Barrage fame, Muy-Caliente has been upgraded to the latest offering of WordPress. Unfortunately, due to the upgrade, all my links have disappeared. Also, my TTLB is gone. If anyone of you notice anything else missing or broken, please let me know here.

Fellow geeks, lend me your ear!

OK, I am stumped. I have 4 computers at home. Three of them are connected via wire and work great. My other PC runs XP and wireless. I can connect to my router fine. I can access shared folders on my network fine. I cannot connect to the DNS server (same # as the wired machines or auto) and therefore, cannot connect to the internet. I tried pinging the DNS and have no luck. I have called Netgear (WPN311 adapter, WPN824 access point, FVS114 router) and Comcast with no satisfaction. I have also disabled windows firewall and McAfee firewall with no difference. I have used netgear’s software and windows zero config with no difference. According to either the netgear utility (95%) or WZC (4 out of 5 bars) I have very good signal. Netgear has about 4 different versions of their driver for the WPN311 and I have tried them all. The AP (WPN824) has the latest firmware loaded on it from netgear’s website. Anything else I can try or do I just live without the internet on this PC? I’ve tried EVERYTHING I can think of!!!

Quote of the Day!

Sara via email:

Computers hate me. Like really hate my guts. As in, they lay awake all night plotting how they can best drive me to distraction.

Just so you know.

Boooooring….

Sorry for the lack of posts but my life has been less than eventful lately.  Other than work and watching the tumultuous Rangers season, not a lot has been going on.  I am excited about this weekend though.  I will be heading up to Boston on Friday with Sara to visit Isaac and his fiancée Lisa for the weekend.  I’m pretty pumped for that!  Also, word from Steve that they are getting larger BOS shirts in and he’s sending one to me!  Hope it gets here in time for the trip so I can show some support to the NE crew. Anyway, that’s it for now, I’ll post more when I get back.

Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!

Don’t worry, I am talking about myself.  It has been very cold here lately.  In fact, today is the first day in over a week that is has been above freezing.  Unfortunately Honda of Princeton decided they would save their $1.50 and filled my windshield washer tank up with water rather than the proper fluid last time I had the oil changed.  Needless to say, I haven’t been able to rid my windshield of the terrible NJ salt and it has been getting pretty crusty.  Well, while Sara and I were grocery shopping on Monday, I saw some windshield washer fluid on sale and decided to pick some up to cure this horrible problem.  In fact, I was so motivated that while Sara was loading the food in the trunk, I would fill up the tank under the hood.  Popped open the top and proceeded to fill up the bottle all the way to the top.  Then I looked to my right and saw another tank, this one with a giant blue picture of some windshield wipers.  Yup, I am a moron.  I filled the coolant overflow tank to the brim with window washer fluid.  After calling my Dad, AAA (clueless), and Honda (also clueless) I decided to drive my car to my parents house and flush out my coolant system and replace it with fresh water and antifreeze.  We got to my parents and I borrowed a bucket, tools, some bottles of water, and a gallon of antifreeze my Dad had lying around.  Well, since there is only about 3 inches of room between the radiator and the engine, I was pretty limited in what I could do in there.  It was only 20 degrees Monday and with the wind blowing constantly, my hands were numb almost instantly, especially when wet with antifreeze.  I did manage to figure out where the coolant piping ran and which hose to disconnect to drain the expansion tank (only after I pulled the wrong hose off first and drained the coolant from the radiator first, did I mention it was tight and hard to see?).  After I drained the tank, I proceeded to pour in a bottle of water and a bottle of antifreeze (50% mix).  Started it up, everything seemed fine.  Then my Dad called and I told him what I did.  He then informed me that the bottle of antifreeze he had lying around was in fact antifreeze already drained from a previous car.  Fantastic.  So my theoretical 50% mix was now only 25% and it was old, dirty fluid.  Needless to say, my car was going to get an oil change this weekend anyway, but will now also receive a full coolant flush.  Yippee!!  To make matters worse, when I was pulling the bucket full of drained coolant out from underneath my car, it split in half from the cold spilling antifreeze all over my parent’s driveway.  Oh, and my windshield washers still don’t work because the pump is still surrounded by ice.
